From 8 to 22 August 2016 Maarten Olthof walked 2500 km from Utrecht in the Netherlands to Assisi in Italy. He left without money and with only a small rucksack. On the way he stayed with local people. He had dedicated his pilgrimage to the reconstruction of Nepal after the earthquakes. On many places he gave lectures to raise funds for this purpose. During his tour, Maarten kept an elaborate travelogue on Facebook. Every day he wrote about the route, with maps and lots of details, about the people receiving him and about places where he lectured, interwoven with lots of anecdotes. Every evening he wrote a haiku (a short Japanese Zen poem) with picture, about what touched him in particular during that day.
The content of the resulting 108 day Facebook-timeline is now available in easy PDF-format as E-book with 452 pages and hundreds of pictures. The book reads like a thrilling pilgrim’s account. Also the many reactions of his followers are included. In return for a donation to Vajra Foundation you can download the book.
